Our very own Yvonne Gorman is selected to participate in a nationwide campaign for Small Business Saturday UK.
But what is Small Business Saturday UK? It is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
On Small Business Saturday, customers across the U.K go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices and in stores. Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.
But it doesn’t end there; the campaign encourages the support of small businesses all year round.
So what can you do to support your local business community?
Each year, Essential Print Services hosts a free event on the day for Derby’s small businesses to come together and celebrate their successes and find support for their ventures. This year is no exception; we’ve joined forces with Derby Hub and University of Derby to host this year’s free event on Saturday 7th December, 10am-2pm at the Enterprise Centre on Bridge Street.
The event will include a business exhibition of Derby Hub members and local companies, networking opportunities, presentations and free workshops. Delegates will also have the chance to win a ‘Golden Ticket’ to pitch their business in front of the entire business congregation.

I am proud to be one of the founder members of Derby Hub, and I’m passionate about the consistent support it provides for new and existing companies alike – I can’t wait for visitors to sample the atmosphere of a Derby Hub meeting,” said Yvonne Gorman, Managing Director of Essential Print Services and Small Business Saturday UK Champion.
