We Are Celebrating Our 6th Birthday And Best Month Ever!
The brainchild of ‘print evangelist’ Yvonne Gorman, Essential Print Services already boasts an impressive business record for so young a company, with a staff and year-on-year sales growth.
Not only that but Yvonne herself is already a renowned business figurehead. Named as one of a handful of “Leading Ladies” in the local press, Yvonne has appeared on ITV Central News, visited No. 10 Downing Street and continues a national appointment as Small Business Saturday UK Champion.
It’s been a roller-coaster ride for the past six years, but, according to Yvonne, she wouldn’t have it any other way. Yvonne says: “I can’t believe the business is six years old! We’ve achieved such a lot and what better way to celebrate than with our best ever sales month – it is perfect timing. The Essential Team’s hard work is paying off. People keep telling me that print is dead, but I’ve seen no evidence of this – we just keep continuing to grow and I can’t see it stopping anytime soon.”
“In March we absolutely smashed our sales target and achieved our best month EVER! It was a phenomenal way to celebrate our 6th birthday. I certainly could not have achieved all that by myself. A round of applause must go to Lee, Katie and Jilly for their hard work and of course, to our amazing customers who support us on our journey,” said Yvonne, owner of Essential Print Services.
Yvonne counts one of her biggest successes in the past year as finding her ‘dream team’. Lee Johnson has been heading up Essential Print Services’ studio for just under a year and is responsible for checking the hundreds of client files a month to ensure the best possible end, for which the company is renowned.
Katie Fitzpatrick joined the business as a “Print Angel” and helps Yvonne to look after Essential Print Services’ loyal customer base by providing fantastic customer service – the hundreds of testimonials they receive is a testament to this.
The most recent appointment was during National Apprenticeship Week in March this year when Jilly Rapley joined the business as a Print Assistant. Yvonne will be working with fellow Pride Park business; Babington Business College, to help Jilly complete her apprenticeship and the newest recruit has already made a big impact on the business.
“Having the right people in your business is crucial. They need to understand that outstanding quality and amazing customer service is paramount. Printing is hard work and some jobs are technically challenging so, what is also important to me that I’m part of a team who can fun in the office and enjoy what they do. There are days when my face aches from laughing so much,” Yvonne Gorman adds.
Yvonne also continues to work hard in her role as part of the Small Business Saturday UK campaign, for which she was appointed one of only 10 ‘champions’ in the country for the third year running.
Her business ethos isn’t just about financial growth: she is also a driving force behind several not-for-profit business groups in Derbyshire, including Derby Hub and the Hallmark Group, as well as being a trustee of the Me & Dee Charity, which supports children and adults with life-limiting illnesses and military personnel suffering from PTSD. Essential Print Services is also proud to sponsor Derby’s iconic half marathon, the Ramathon for the fourth year running.
She says: “I feel both privileged and proud to have created a sustainable business that not only employs local people but that supports many other East Midlands firms, as well as my local community. I am so excited about the future of my business and can’t wait to see how my team develops.”
“I’m also thrilled to be able to prove that, despite setting up in the middle of a recession and with the strong digital competition that the print industry now faces, printers can thrive and that Essential Print Services is one of them.”
